Harry Partch is the next on the agenda for the Victoria Meyers architect Sound Urbanism/ Sound Ecology seminar at University of Cincinnati. Image above: Partch's instrument with his Micro-Tone system. Lecture 7 deals with Partch, sound, micro-tones, and the relationship between wavelengths of light based on color and sound.
Xenakis's sketch for the Philips Pavilion, shown next to the Color wheel, by Johannes Itten, at the Bauhaus, with Gerhard Richter's painting, Colors.
These are cultural influences that have received little attention, but that frame the concept of color and light in an intelligently referential framework, and brings color and light into the conversation about sound in the environment.
Le Corbusier's signage for the Philips Pavilion still exists, and is installed at the Technical University at Eindhoven. The sign includes Corb's original neon signage for the 'Poeme Electronique', announcing the entrance into his 'Electronic Poem' for sound and light.
