hMa posted two new projects to the hMa Facebook Page today:  Dune House, and Downtown Loft Design:

Both projects are high-end residential.  Dune house, at the top, is for a family of five in Amagansett, NY.  Downtown Loft is a high-end residential loft for a couple in NYC.

Dune House was developed to be built with state-of-the-art green technologies, to allow the house to be constructed within a fragile dune reserve area.  The base of the house is an existing building, and all water use, electrical, and materials are state of the art green, to give the house a less than zero-carbon-footprint.  The builder for the house has agreed to use best practices to protect all native species on the site.  The Owners have also hired a Landscape Architect to remove all non-native invasive species, and replace them with native plant species. 

Dune House is a courtyard design, with the house and out-building arranged around a new, free-form pool, with glass sides.  It is possible to look into the pool from the East and South elevations.

Both projects feature extensive woodwork, including cabinetry inserts by hMa collaborator, Miya Shoji, located in NYC.

During the Spring semester 2013 Victoria Meyers architect will be teaching a course that includes and covers Sound Urbanism at the University of Cincinnati School of Architecture.  The course will review sound as it shapes spaces, both in buildings and in urban spaces.

hMa's North Neighborhood is supported by their sound urbanist building, DWi-P, defining the space of the Battery Park City Parks area, from the Western edge of DWi-P to West Street (see isometric above). 

DWi-P's interactive Sound Wall facilitates a deeper reading of the building, and extends the 'viewers' understanding of the Hudson River and water in the parks within the North Neighborhood to the edge of the site at West Street.

These and other concepts relating sound to urban space and architecture will be the focus of the course.

DWi-P is a 65,000 square foot community Center accessed from North End Avenue, between Murray and Warren Streets.  DWi-P features a 15,000 square-foot Green Roof, a community center program inside the building, and a 550-foot long Interactive Glass Wall. DWi-P is on track to receive a Platinum LEED rating.

Victoria Meyers of hanrahan Meyers architects will be participating in a panel discussion on Sustainability and Religious Architecture at the Center for Architecture on Monday October 26th, details below.  hanrahan Meyers architects (hMa) have completed one church in Queens, New York (Church of the Light).  In addition to Infinity Chapel, the firm currently has a new Buddhist retreat in construction in Claverack, New York. 

In addition to developing a track record for religious buildings, hMa has a reputation for sustainable and Green design.  hanrahan Meyers have been the master plan architects for Battery Park City's North Neighborhood since 1997.  In that capacity, hMa has overviewed the construction of over 1 million square feet of green construction, including several acres of sustainable, green landscape design.  hMa wrote the design guidelines for all buildings built in the North Neighborhood since 1997, including the Solaire, the first LEED certified high-rise residential building. hMa currently has a 65,000 square foot community center in construction at Battery Park City which is headed for Platinum LEED certification.
